People treat death like its nothing until someone that is close to you dies. It is impossible to sympathize with someone that has lost someone close to them unless you have gone through the same thing, and even then it’s still different. Pope Francis once said “ Even today we raise our hands against our brother…we have perfected our weapons, our conscience has fallen asleep, and we have sharpened our ideas to justify ourselves as if it were normal we continue to sow destruction, pain, and death. Violence and war lead only to death.” Many men have gone into war never wanting to make any friends because they have the fear they will not know them for much longer because of what they will have to go through in the war and the high risk of being killed. People that declare war on other places will not be fighting themselves so it is easy for them to go through with it. People get so caught up in what they want and what will make their lives easier that they don’t consider what they will be losing just to get what they want.

When it comes to war I believe that the amount of people that are going to die is the last thing they think about before they decide to be involved with war. It always seems like the main focus is how much the war will cost and how much they will get out of they war if they win but no one seems to think about the people that will die and how much it will affect their families and their daily lives. Charles summers once said “Give me the money that has been spent in war and I will clothe every man, woman, and child in an attire of which kings and queens will be proud. I will build a schoolhouse in every valley over the whole earth. I will crown every hillside with a place of worship consecrated to peace.” This proves that we are so caught up in wo is right and who is wrong and what we want that we could be using our money and resources in  bigger and better ways and instead help everyone instead of just a few. When we go into war we spend so much money on just trying to win the war with all the weapons and resources that we will need to win and instead we could be using the large amount of money to help everyone get what they need not just give a certain amount of people what they need.

I think often people are to focused on what they want and need rather than how they can help other people get what they need to live. We are to focused on what we want and how we are going to get it that we turn a blind eye on other people and how we can help them. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” I think if we were all a little more focused on what we could do for each other rather than what we can do for ourselves then the majority of this problem would go away.
